And the team behind Hillerød Camping

Welcome!

My name is Annette and I have been the campsite leader of Hillerød Camping since 2005. I originally come from Southern Jutland (Aabenraa), where I started my career in the holiday industry in Arrild Ferieby as a manager among other things. Here was Arrild Ferieby Camping built, and I tried the role of being a campsite leader. After that, I became an agency manager at Fredericia Tourist Office, and later in Hillerød. And when Hillerød Camping became vacant in 2005, there was no doubt that I wanted to be the lucky one to take over Hillerød Camping. I could see and sense a lot of possibilities for the site and immediately wanted to turn these into reality.

My passion is to create an environment where all guests feel welcome and hopefully can feel all the personal thoughts and ideas that have been put into the place, to develop something new, but at the same time preserve the atmosphere of the place and the sense of history.

Meet the host family and the team behind

A lot has happened since my girls, Elisabeth and Helena, and I moved into Hillerød Camping in 2005, when they were just 4 and 6 years old. Today Elisabeth is 25 years old and works full-time as a consultant and Helena is 23 years old and studying her bachelor’s degree in sales and marketing – both living in Copenhagen. The change from a detached house to a campsite was big, but we have had so much pleasure in meeting a lot of lovely people from all over the world and feel that they feel as much at home on the site as we do. This also applies to my Dutch boyfriend, Taco, who in late summer 2010 stopped by the campsite with his son Jesse. In 2012, Taco moved to our site and has been part of our host family ever since – Jesse is now 25 years old and lives in the Netherlands, where he works in IT.

Season 2025 is a bit special for us as this year we’re celebrating our 20th anniversary here at the campsite – it’s just crazy. We’ve made so many great memories here on site and we’re looking forward to many more!

We have always had many ideas for new activities on the site and make a lot of effort to create a cozy environment for our guests, with candlelight and presence. We are constantly upgrading the site’s facilities and are always coming up with new ideas for the physical layout.

Over the years, we have been surrounded by loyal employees who have put a lot of love and effort into making the space the lovely urban oasis we think it is today. For the past 6 years, Linda has been our ‘putze fairy’ and has been joined by our ‘putze fairy no. 2’ Gihzlan, and in 2021 we hired Kaj for a few hours a week for various chores. ‘Pensioner Carsten’ helps especially in the early mornings and we also get help from our dinner ‘gatekeepers’ Finn Sylvest and the married couple Ulla and Torben. However, Ulla is mostly our floral decorator together with Annette. In addition to our regular team, we have our good partner CE Service to help with the cleaning of Giani and Diana, among others.

We have also brought some youth into the team. Helena is still employed a few hours a week to take care of the reception with help from Louise – they will greet you with a big smile and always ready to help. Filippa is working freelance on our website and other marketing. Simone and Amalie will also be on site from time to time, helping to take care of cleaning the site so that it can be clean and tidy.
